Eileen Dolan leads research experience for CPS teachers

Chicago Educators and Youth Enjoy Science (Chicago EYES), a science pipeline program led by Kathy Goss, PhD (Cancer Biology) and M. Eileen Dolan (Cancer Biology; Genetics, Genomics and Systems Biology), has expanded to offer research experience to CPS teachers as well as high school and undergraduate students.

The teacher particpants are paid for two eight-week periods in consecutive summers to conduct research alongside a faculty mentor. According to Goss, this is an "opportunity... to broaden the knowledge of the teachers, but also the students they serve."

Current graduate students Lauren Blake (Human Genetics), Mat Perez-Neut (Cancer Biology), and Corey Smith (Medical Physics) serve as peer mentors for students in the program.
